Talk a language of precision.

Generalizations, deletions, distortions…how to speak precise language in a professional context (or other…for example: speaking with my doctor)

Goals

  • Understand and remember the fundamental principles of the NLP Language Model (or “Precision Language”): our vision and our representation of reality is not the complete reality, and what we say about it is therefore incomplete.

  • In a professional context, knowing how to detect omissions, generalizations, and penalizing distortions in order to be able to make the right decisions.

  • Ask the right questions and speak a language of precision.

Give feedback

“How to say it effectively even when it’s hard to hear”

  • Facts, more facts

  • The feedback sandwich

  • DESC or OSBD model

DESC (Describe the facts, Express my feelings, Specify my need, Clarify my request)

Sometimes called OSBD (Observation, Feeling, Need, Request).

  • FBI (Feeling, Behavior Impact)

Introducing yourself with the Pyramid of Logical Levels

The Pyramid of Logical Levels (Environment, Actions, Abilities, Emotions, Values, Identity, Belonging), is a powerful NLP tool for change and modeling. It is also a simple and effective tool for introducing yourself.

Goals

  • Understand the Pyramid of Logical Levels, and its different levels: Environment (Or, with whom), Actions (What), Abilities and strategies (How), Emotions, Beliefs and Values (Why), Identity (Who), Purpose and belonging (in the service of what).

  • Understand how this modeling tool is also a tool for change.

  • Apply it to introduce yourself in a professional context (round table, elevator pitch, etc.) on each of the logical levels.
